Best Reasons to move to Crosswinds This Fall

The Texas Hill Country is growing and that means Kyle is growing. New families are discovering the appeal of our community every day and are planting roots here. Victoria Vargas, the interim director of economic development for the City of Kyle, recently told KVUE News that Kyle saw 63% growth between 2010 and 2020 and that “growth is not expected to slow down any time soon.”

It’s not just our affordability and proximity to Austin that’s attracting folks to Kyle. From economic growth such as Lowe’s new distribution center and the development of Kyle Crossing Phase II to festivities like the Pie in the Sky Festival, a lot is happening in Kyle.

If you’re thinking about moving to Kyle or you’ve recently moved here and are looking to buy a home, the fall season is the perfect time to move to the Crosswinds community.

Outdoor Fun at Crosswinds

Don’t get us wrong, we love summer in Kyle, but by the end of August, it’s nice to have a break from those 100-degree temps. The average temperature in September in Kyle is 88 F, and by October it’s even cooler, making fall the perfect season to enjoy so many of the outdoor amenities at Crosswinds.

Our Sports Court is the perfect place to work up a sweat over a game of pickup basketball with friends, or perhaps see what all the buzz is about with pickleball. Meanwhile, the kiddos can enjoy the last few weeks of daylight savings time and burn off some energy after school or dinner on our community playscape.

Crosswinds residents got to spend the summer enjoying our resort-style pool and splash pad. (Don’t worry, there’s still plenty of time for a swim if you haven’t had a chance to take a dip yet.)

Crosswinds residents also have access to our hike and bike trails, as well as a dog park for our furry residents. One of the biggest highlights of the fall season is the return of football, and our community grills and picnic areas are perfect for cooking up some grub before kickoff.

Find Your Dream Home

Spring and summer tend to be the busiest months when it comes to home shopping, but don’t rule out buying a home in the fall. According to Zillow, sellers tend to lower prices in late summer, giving fall buyers a bit more flexibility when it comes to price.

The homes in Crosswinds have all been built by homebuilders that are leaders in the industry. Gehan Homes, Highland Homes, Pacesetter Homes, and MileStone Community Builders are all award-winning builders that have crafted beautiful homes in the Crosswinds community. Keep the Car in the Garage

Switch up your transportation method! Rather than driving to work, try riding your bike or walking to honor Earth Day near Kyle. If your office is not within a comfortable distance, consider public transportation, like a bus or train, or make arrangements with a coworker to carpool. Globally, road transportation currently accounts for 74% of global CO2 emissions. Carpooling or keeping your car at home for the day can end up making a significant impact on greenhouse gas emissions!

Plant a Garden

Step outside and plant a garden of your choosing! We recommend you start with a small vegetable garden. Planting a vegetable garden is a huge reward over time – not only will you cut down on carbon emissions involved with getting your produce to the plate, but you’ll also cut down on grocery costs. If you need tip for planting a successful garden, check out this blog. If you don’t think you have the time to start a vegetable garden, though, that’s quite alright! You can start simple with an herb garden or pretty flowers.

Go Meatless for the Day

Meat is a staple in most people’s daily diet, but the excessive demand for meat actually creates a strain on environmental resources. Try eliminating meat for a day and subbing in protein alternatives, such as lentils, beans or tofu. The internet offers countless delicious vegetarian recipes you and the whole family could feast on to celebrate Earth Day.

It’s easy to celebrate Earth Day near Kyle with these simple and affordable tips. 3 Secrets for a Successful Texas Spring Garden

What better way to welcome spring than by getting outside and planting a garden in the backyard of your new home in Kyle? To help cultivate your Texas spring garden, our master-planned community put together some gardening tips and a planting guide for you to use.

texas spring garden, planting guide, spring garden, gardening tips, crosswinds, new homes in kyle, master-planned community

1. Prune Your Spring Garden

If any of your existing shrubs require pruning, a helpful trick is to wait until the flowers fade to take out your trimmers. This will ensure that your plants and trees bloom nicely in the coming year. Additionally, if you notice any of the flowers in your garden are dying, cut them back. The act of “deadheading” your flowers reduces pest and disease problems and encourages your plants to bloom. Lastly, be sure to clean up your spring garden by removing any fallen leaves from last season, as well as any debris or muck.

2. Mulch Matters

The absolute best way to save yourself time and energy when it comes to your Texas spring garden is to spread mulch! We recommend laying down 2-3 inches of mulch in your garden. This gardening tip will help prevent the growth of most weeds and will keep the soil moist during the hot Texas summer. For added nutrients, you can add clay or sand to your mulch.

3. A Helpful Planting Guide

During spring, you can plant cool-season varieties of vegetables, as they’ll survive any frosty weather that might occur. These vegetables include cauliflower, peas, broccoli, lettuce and radishes. Warm-season varieties, such as tomatoes, peppers, squash and okra, should be planted when the soil consistently reaches 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Test the soil temperature by walking across the soil barefoot. If the soil is still too cold, but you want to get a head start on planting your warm-season vegetables, start by planting them in pots indoors. When the weather warms up, you can begin to acclimate the vegetables to the outdoors by transporting them outside.

Add life to your new home in Kyle with beautiful flowers and fresh vegetables! As the weather gets warmer, you can use our gardening tips to help you plant and nurture a Texas spring garden. 5 Projects You Can Complete Today to Declutter Your Home

With spring right around the corner, now is the perfect time to get a jump start on your spring cleaning. One of the easiest ways to organize your space is to declutter your home. Simple decluttering projects involve tidying up specific “problem areas” such as the fridge or the bathroom. Today, our master-planned community is bringing you five of our favorite fast and easy decluttering tips!

declutter your home, decluttering projects, decluttering tips, crosswinds, new homes in kyle, master-planned community

1. Clean the Fridge Door

The first decluttering tip involves tackling the condiment section of your refrigerator. First, open up your fridge. Next, take out all the condiments and put them on your counter. Start checking expiration dates and throwing away anything that is past its prime or that you’re never going to use. Before returning the remaining bottles to the fridge, wipe down the bottoms and sides of the jars with a damp sponge.

2. Designate a Pen Cup

We’re all guilty of having pens and pencils thrown aimlessly around our home. Go around and gather all of the excess pens and pencils and put them in one designated area, whether it be a cup in your home office or a drawer in your kitchen. Before placing them in their new home, double check that the pens have ink and the pencils have lead. Toss out any that don’t work!

3. Declutter the Shower

It’s easy to get distracted at the store by the latest-and-greatest bath products. We get lured by premises like ‘sleek shine’ and ‘smoother, younger skin.’ As we buy more and more products, they start to take up valuable real estate in the shower. Recycle the empty bottles and give away products you didn’t like. Only keep your favorite products that you use every day!

4. Tidy Up the Laundry Room

We’ve tackled the kitchen, we’ve organized the bathroom and now it’s time to declutter the laundry room. Check for any empty containers of detergent, bleach or fabric softener and throw them away. Gather any oddball socks or articles of clothing that you find and put random items pulled from pockets back where they belong.

5. Recycle Your Magazines

It’s easy to let magazines and catalogs pile up on your coffee table. Recycle old issues and keep only current ones that you still want to read. If you find an article in an old issue that you really enjoy, that doesn’t mean you have to keep the whole magazine – cut the section out, set it aside and recycle the rest of the issue.

There are so many simple ways you can go through and declutter your home. Most of these decluttering projects can be completed in less than 20 minutes, and they can make your home feel brand new! If you’re looking for a home that is actually brand new, look no further than our master-planned community.  Crosswinds’ new homes in Kyle are perfect for the family and come clutter-free! Kyle, TX Housing Market – What to Expect in 2019

If you’ve been looking at new homes in Kyle and have been waiting for the right time to buy, then you’ll certainly want to know what’s to be expected for the Kyle, TX housing market, as well as the housing market in general, for 2019.

new homes in Kyle, master-planned community, Crosswinds, Kyle TX housing market

More Homebuying Competition with Continued Population Growth

As more and more people move to the Kyle area, the homebuying market is becoming more and more competitive. With the rise in potential homebuyers, and not a proportionate increase in available homes, you can expect to see housing prices increase. You may also have to do a bit of negotiating and counter offering if you find your must-have home because there will likely be others wanting it as well.

Homes Will Spend Less Time on the Market

With the increase in competition, that also means that available homes are expected to spend much less time on the market. So, if you find a home at Crosswinds that you love, you’ll want to come to our master-planned community and jump on it before someone else does!

Mortgage Interest Rates are Likely Going to Increase

Aside from the Kyle, TX housing market, one thing you can expect to see for the general housing market in 2019 is a hike in mortgage interest rates. While interest rates may not increase at the very start of the new year, it’s best to keep your eye on the market and be ready to act as soon as possible to avoid the expected 5% mortgage interest rate coming in 2019.

While the Kyle, TX housing market is expected to go through some changes in 2019, it’s important to note that these types of changes in the market have been going in this same direction for the past several years. So, don’t let any of that deter you from buying a new home in Kyle in 2019. Come by Crosswinds and take a tour of our master-planned community in Kyle. We’d love to show you around and help you find the perfect home from one of our homebuilders. In the meantime, get to know us by connecting with Crosswinds on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
