Kyle Market Days Second Saturday

One of the most fun events in Kyle that everyone enjoys is Kyle Market Days. It runs on the first Saturday of the month from April through October. What can you do there? You can browse local vendors, catch live music, discover farm to market items, fill up on delicious food, and do arts and crafts.

To get there, just head for the “Shady Oak Trees” of the historic Mary Kyle Hartson City Square Park between Center St., Main St., Miller St., and Burleson Rd. The address is 700 Lehman Rd, Kyle, Texas 78640. Like most of Kyle, it’s just a short 10 minute drive from Crosswinds.

About Kyle Market Days

It starts at 9 am and ends at various times, so visit the Kyle Market Days web page for current information. The next one is on July 13 from 9 am to 1 pm.

Every month, live local musicians perform music in the gazebo. July showcases Silver Mine String Band from Oak Hill. Also, each event presents a different theme and partnership.

July’s partner is Hope and Love 4 Kids. This Kyle-based nonprofit helps low-income families and children with special needs. They provide them with the basic necessities, comfort them in times of need, and uplift them through service and outreach.

One of the things they do is to collect school supplies to donate to these families. The theme for July is “Back to School Supply Drive.” Donate school supplies to help Hope and Love 4 Kids in their mission to support these families.

Summer Events You Can’t Miss Near Crosswinds

Movies on the Square

Nothing says summertime quite like a movie under the stars! The Kyle Parks and Recreation Department is proud to present the 18th year of Movies on the Square, a popular Kyle, TX event. For the 2019 summer, the event has been relocated to Mary Kyle Hartson City Square Park. There are four Movies on the Square scheduled between June and August, with the first taking place on Friday, June 21. The featured film will be Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation. Check out the full list of summer events by visiting the City of Kyle Parks & Recreation website. Each movie will begin at sundown, and we recommend bringing a blanket, lawn chairs and snacks.

Kyle’s Independence Day Fireworks Show

Looking for something to do on the Fourth of July that’s guaranteed fun for the whole family? Join the city of Kyle for a celebration of America’s birthday with Kyle’s Independence Day Fireworks Show! The free pre-show celebration starts at 6:00pm at the Plum Creek Golf Course Clubhouse and includes live music from local artists, hot dogs and cold drinks. The firework show will begin after sundown, around 9:30pm, so be sure to find a spot early. If you can see the tall water tower next to the Hays CISD PAC on Kohler’s Crossing, you’ll be able to see the fireworks!

Kyle Pie in the Sky Hot Air Balloon Festival

It’s almost hot air balloon time in Kyle, Texas! Join us from August 30 – September 1 in the Pie Capital of Texas™ for a pie-themed, family-friendly hot air balloon festival. The annual Kyle Pie in the Sky Hot Air Balloon Festival will feature more than 20 hot air balloons along with live music, children’s activities, pie eating contests, tethered rides and so much more. The three-day Kyle Pie in the Sky festival is a great community event that provides fun for the whole family. Make your Labor Day weekend unforgettable with this summer event!

School is officially out, and summer is just around the corner, which means more time for all kinds of fun outdoor activities! Apply, Apply, Apply

Located near the intersection of Lehman Road and Hailey Drive, this public park in Kyle includes separate sections for large and small dogs. Don’t worry about putting on and taking off your dog’s leash, there’s a transition zone between the leashed and unleashed areas of the park. Water fountains and shaded areas are also available!

  1. Gregg-Clarke Park

Gregg-Clarke Park is a multi-use park that provides the Kyle community a great spot to host recreational and special events. Anchored by the Kyle Pool, the park includes softball and football fields, tennis and basketball courts and covered playscapes. Celebrate Easter in Kyle at the Easter Eggstravaganza

Are you on the hunt for egg-citing ways to celebrate Easter in Kyle with your family? Join the city of Kyle and Eikon Church on Saturday, April 13, for the largest Easter egg hunt Hays County has ever seen! The Easter Eggstravaganza will feature an egg drop, live music and fun for the whole family.

Egg Drops, and Hunts, and More, Oh My!

On Saturday, the festivities officially begin at 2 p.m. with the first egg drop but be sure to arrive early and secure your spot! There will be multiple drops for different age groups, as well as a smaller drop zone for toddlers and children in need of assistance. Before each hunt, the drop zone will be cleared, and eggs will be dropped from a hot air balloon. After all the eggs have landed safely on the grass, children will be released to collect their share of eggs! With over 80,000 eggs being dropped from a hot air balloon, the Easter Eggstravaganza in Kyle, TX is one of the largest Easter egg hunts in the area! 

Celebrating Easter in Kyle

In addition to the egg drops, the Easter Egg-stravaganza will feature inflatables, face painting and free carnival games. You and your little ones can also sing and dance along with the live DJ! Still haven’t gotten around to getting your children’s photos taken with the big white bunny? South Austin’s pizza scene continues to grow with a new Aviator Pizza and Drafthouse location now open in Kyle, TX! The new location opened in March 2019 near our master-planned community in Kyle, making it the perfect place to take your family for pizza night or to meet up with the neighbors for a local beer. About Aviator Pizza and Drafthouse

Elgin-based Aviator Pizza and Drafthouse opened its third location in Kyle, TX this spring off of FM 1628 and Kohlers Crossing. The restaurant, which first opened its doors in 2014, also has a place in Austin’s South Congress neighborhood. Unique pizza offerings and some of the area’s best craft beer are available Sunday – Thursday from 11am – 9:30pm and Friday – Saturday from 11am – 11pm.

Specialty & Build Your Own Pizzas

The pizzeria sets itself apart with the pizza dough, it’s drizzled with pizza oil infused with rosemary. Each pie is topped with homemade pizza sauce and some of the area’s freshest ingredients. Popular specialty pizzas include the “South Austin,” made with prosciutto, goat cheese and arugula tossed in homemade honey balsamic vinaigrette, and “The Greek,” which features a pesto base, Kalamata olives, mushrooms, artichoke, feta and fresh basil. Louie’s BBQ in Buda Relocated from Downtown Austin

In Texas, we take our barbecue very seriously, and we’re so excited to announce that a South Congress barbecue hot spot has made its way south of Austin. Louie’s BBQ in Buda opened in early 2019 near our master-planned community in Kyle. Here’s a bit more information on Louie’s and why we think it might be the best-kept barbecue secret in Austin.

About Louie’s BBQ

Run by husband and wife, Luis and Amy Vasquez, Louie’s BBQ in Buda was born out of a love for cooking and entertaining. Luis Vasquez was an insurance adjuster for more than 16 years before discovering his passion for food. After seven years of cooking for family and friends and two years of catering, Luis was able to purchase his trailer and open the BBQ joint to the public in 2017.

Moving to Buda, TX

The barbecue spot first opened at a place on South Congress Avenue, but in late 2018 Louie’s BBQ decided it was time to head south, to Buda, TX. Luis Vasquez felt the Austin trailer and barbecue scene were getting a bit saturated, and Saint Elmo Public Market is set to open at the same South Congress address in October. The owners were proactive about moving and saw an opportunity to help get Buda on the barbecue map.

 Mexican-BBQ Fusion

Louie’s BBQ in Buda has coined the phrase “Mexican-BBQ fusion,” and the menu is full of unique combinations coupled with traditional barbecue favorites. From the seasoned brisket coated in Louie’s signature rub to the tasty tacos and fresh street corn, each menu item is packed full of mouthwatering goodness. If they’re still available, Louie’s sensational stuffed potatoes are a crowd favorite, topped with signature brisket or pulled pork straight from the custom-built BBQ pit. If you love Louie’s BBQ and want it at your next event, you’re in luck because they cater.
