Breathe New Life Into Your Home: Spring Cleaning for Crosswinds Families

As March wraps up and April ushers in the promise of warmer days and blooming landscapes, it’s the perfect time to embrace the age-old tradition of spring cleaning. For families settling into their new homes in the Crosswinds community in Kyle, Texas, this season presents a fantastic opportunity to start fresh, create lasting memories, and breathe new life into your space. With its lush green spaces, walking trails, and family-friendly amenities, Crosswinds is an inspiring backdrop for your springtime renewal.

To help you prepare your home for the season ahead, we’ve compiled practical spring cleaning tips designed to refresh your living space and enhance your comfort. These steps will keep your home sparkling and ensure it’s ready for the joyful gatherings and outdoor adventures that spring brings.

1. Declutter for a Clean Slate

Before diving into scrubbing and polishing, begin by decluttering each room. Moving into a new home often involves bringing items you may no longer need. Use this opportunity to:

  • Sort and Donate: Go through closets, drawers, and storage spaces. Donate gently used clothing, toys, and household items to local charities in Kyle.
  • Purge Expired Goods: Check your pantry, medicine cabinet, and cleaning supplies for expired products. Properly dispose of these items to free up space.
  • Create Organization Systems: Invest in storage bins, drawer dividers, and labels to keep your belongings tidy and easily accessible.

2. Refresh Your Walls and Surfaces

New homes often come with pristine walls, but adding a touch of maintenance can keep them looking fresh for years to come:

  • Dust and Wash Walls: Use a microfiber cloth or a gentle cleaning solution to remove dust and smudges from walls and baseboards.
  • Polish Fixtures: Clean and polish light switches, door handles, and cabinet hardware to restore their shine.
  • Touch-Up Paint: Use leftover paint to make touch-ups for minor scuffs or marks. This keeps your home looking as beautiful as the day you moved in.

3. Deep Clean Carpets and Floors

Floors endure a lot of wear and tear, especially with the excitement of moving in and settling down. Ensure they’re ready for the season:

  • Vacuum Thoroughly: Use a vacuum with a HEPA filter to capture allergens and dust.
  • Steam Clean Carpets: Renting a steam cleaner or hiring a professional can eliminate deep-set dirt and odors.
  • Polish Hard Floors: Use appropriate cleaners to bring back their luster and protect the finish for hardwood or tile.

4. Revitalize Your Kitchen

As the heart of your home, the kitchen deserves extra attention during your spring cleaning:

  • Clean Appliances: Wipe down your refrigerator, oven, microwave, and dishwasher. If possible, clean behind and beneath these appliances.
  • Organize Cabinets: Arrange pantry items, spices, and cookware for easy access. Consider adding shelf liners for added protection.
  • Sanitize Surfaces: Disinfect countertops, sinks, and cutting boards to maintain a hygienic cooking environment.

5. Refresh Bedrooms and Bathrooms

Create relaxing and rejuvenating spaces by giving bedrooms and bathrooms a springtime makeover:

  • Wash Bedding: Launder duvets, comforters, and mattress protectors. Rotate or flip mattresses for even wear.
  • Deep Clean Bathrooms: Scrub tile grout, clean shower heads, and replace old shower curtains or liners.
  • Declutter Vanity Spaces: Organize cosmetics, toiletries, and medicine cabinets. Dispose of expired products and streamline your essentials.

6. Tend to Your Outdoor Spaces

One of the joys of living in Crosswinds is the opportunity to enjoy outdoor living. Prepare your yard and patio for spring:

  • Clean Patio Furniture: Wash outdoor furniture and cushions to remove dust and mildew.
  • Inspect Your Landscape: Trim bushes, mow the lawn, and plant seasonal flowers to enhance curb appeal.
  • Check Outdoor Fixtures: Ensure your sprinkler system, outdoor lights, and grill work well.

Spring Break Staycation: Ideas for Families at Crosswinds

Spring break is around the corner, and families in the beautiful Crosswinds community of Kyle, TX, may wonder how to make the most of their time off. Luckily, you don’t need to travel far to create unforgettable family memories. Crosswinds offers many amenities and opportunities for a fun-filled staycation in your neighborhood. Here are some creative and engaging ideas to ensure your family enjoys every moment of spring break without even needing to leave the comfort of the Crosswinds community.

1. Outdoor Adventures at the Crosswinds Trail System

Spring is the perfect time to explore the scenic trails and green spaces that wind through the Crosswinds community. With pleasant weather and blooming wildflowers, you can organize a family hike or nature scavenger hunt. Encourage your kids to identify different plants, birds, or insects along the way. Bring along a picnic and enjoy a meal surrounded by the natural beauty of your neighborhood.

For families with bikes, consider a family bike ride along the trails. It’s a fun way to get everyone active while appreciating the serene outdoor environment that makes Crosswinds so special.

2. Backyard Camping Adventure

Turn your backyard into a mini campground for a night of fun and adventure! Pitch a tent, roast marshmallows over a fire pit (or make s’mores in the oven if needed), and tell stories under the stars. Crosswinds’ clear Texas skies make stargazing a magical experience.

If you’d like to make the evening even more educational, use a stargazing app to help your kids identify constellations and planets. It’s a wonderful way to combine fun with a bit of learning.

3. Family Sports Day at Windy Sports Park

Windy Sports Park, located within the Crosswinds community, is the perfect spot to host a family sports day. Set up friendly competitions with soccer, frisbee, or relay races. Create a mini-tournament where each family member gets to choose a sport or game.

Remember to bring snacks and drinks for breaks in between. At the end of the day, celebrate everyone’s efforts with a small award ceremony, complete with homemade medals or ribbons.

4. DIY Water Park in Your Backyard

A backyard water day can be a refreshing break for everyone as the weather warms up. Set up sprinklers, a slip-and-slide, or an inflatable kiddie pool for hours of water fun. Encourage water balloon games or host a family water gun battle.

For added fun, create a “beach day” vibe with beach towels, tropical music, and refreshing lemonade or mocktails for the whole family.

5. Crosswinds’ Amenity Center Fun

Crosswinds’ impressive amenity center is a hub of entertainment for families. Spend a day lounging by the resort-style pool or challenge your kids to a game at the basketball court.

You can also organize a mini “Crosswinds Olympics” by setting up different activities and games at the amenity center. From swimming races to basketball shootouts, there’s no shortage of ways to create a day filled with excitement and laughter.

6. Arts and Crafts Day

Get creative with an arts-and-crafts day inspired by the beauty of Crosswinds. Set up a table with art supplies and encourage your kids to paint or draw their favorite parts of the community, such as the trails, wind sculptures, or local wildlife.

You could even organize a family art competition and display everyone’s masterpieces in your living room or backyard for a mini art gallery experience.

7. Cooking Together: Family Picnic Challenge

Turn meal preparation into a fun family activity by hosting a picnic challenge. Each family member can choose a dish to prepare, and you can all work together to create a delicious picnic spread.

Once the food is ready, head to one of Crosswinds’ open green spaces to enjoy your meal outdoors. Don’t forget to pack a blanket and some family-friendly lawn games like cornhole or bocce ball.

8. Neighborhood Photo Safari

If your family enjoys photography, take a “photo safari” around the Crosswinds community. Challenge each family member to capture the best shots of nature, architecture, and community life.

At the end of the day, gather and review everyone’s photos. Print the best ones and create a spring break photo album to remember your staycation adventures.

9. Movie Night Under the Stars

Transform your backyard into an outdoor movie theater with a projector, white sheet, or portable screen. Set up cozy seating with blankets and cushions, and prepare a snack bar with popcorn, candy, and drinks.

Choose a family-friendly movie and enjoy a relaxing evening with your loved ones under the stars. The fresh spring air and the quiet surroundings of Crosswinds make it the perfect setting for an unforgettable movie night.

10. Volunteer as a Family

Spring break is also a great time to give back to the community. Look for local volunteer opportunities in Kyle, TX, or organize your neighborhood cleanup within Crosswinds. Teaching children the value of community service can be a rewarding and bonding experience.

Let the Fun Begin!

With so many exciting activities in your backyard, there’s no need to leave Crosswinds for an unforgettable spring break. From outdoor adventures to creative family fun, the possibilities for making lasting memories are endless. So, gather your loved ones, plan your staycation, and embrace everything that makes Crosswinds the perfect place to live, play, and thrive.

Drone Company Chooses Kyle, TX for Winter Training Site

To no one’s surprise, the city of Kyle is attracting more and more businesses in 2022. Companies love the favorable regulatory environment in Texas, the weather, the people, the cost of living, and the beautiful, historical towns and cities.

Ranitzo is yet another company that discovered Kyle as the ideal location to conduct business. Ranitzo is an Iowa-based drone developer that’s on the cutting edge of the agricultural drone industry, and they recently chose Kyle Texas’ Public Safety Training Center for their winter training operations.

Rantizo’s agricultural drones are the future of large-scale farming and land management in the U.S. These drones are designed to spray liquid or dry solutions onto crops, such as fertilizers, crop seeds, insects, and more. Because this is a newer concept, the technology is still in its developmental stages. Agriculture drone companies are still in the process of overcoming regulatory, technological, and training obstacles to bring drone tech to the forefront of farming, and moving their training program to Kyle is a great step forward for Rantizo.

The Public Safety Training Center in Kyle is a perfect option for Rantizo. Although the training center is best known for its tactical driving school and drone training for law enforcement, the administration at the training center is looking to land more commercial training programs with the successful launch of Rantizo’s winter training program.

Why Kyle is the perfect location:

There are 3 major reasons that a drone developer like Rantizo chose Kyle.

First, it solves the problem of drone complications with cold weather. Drones don’t like the cold. Cold temperatures reduce chemical activity in the Lipo batteries used in drones, and in extreme cold conditions, drones might shut down mid-flight. Considering that each of Rantizo’s T30 drones retail at over $50,000, that’s something they want to avoid.

Rantizo’s HQ in Iowa has temps that are consistently below zero during winter. Training in those temps is impossible (not to mention unpleasant for trainees and trainers alike). But for a majority of the winter months in Kyle, TX have highs in the 60’s and lows in the 40’s. Drone trainers don’t have to worry about fatal shutdowns or reduced battery life, which increases efficiency and

Second, Kyle, TX already has flight envelopes in place at the training center and clear regulatory guidelines for drone flight. You can’t just fly drones anywhere…the FAA determines what is safe and what isn’t, and they’ve cleared Kyle’s facility for flight training. This solves a big problem for Rantizo.

Third is Kyle itself. The city is located close to two international airports, making it easy for company travel. Plus, it’s a fun city to visit or live in. Kyle is growing and with an average age of 32, it has great offerings for young to middle-aged employees during downtime between training sessions.

More Growth To Come for Kyle

Like we mentioned above, Kyle is growing fast. Between 2018 and 2019 the population of Kyle, TX grew from 39,857 to 42,706, and its median household income grew from $74,826 to $79,348.

We can only expect this trend to continue as companies like Rantizo take advantage of the incentives and benefits that Kyle offers.

What will drive the growth trend even further is the fact that it’s also relatively easy to get people to relocate to the Austin, TX area. Its beautiful landscapes, perfect weather, and cost of living are all attractive to employees, and this is especially true in Kyle.

If you’re relocating to the Austin area like so many others these days, it’s worth taking a look at Crosswinds in Kyle, TX. Our community has beautiful, affordable homes with vibrant amenities and lifestyles that are built around your needs and wants.

Reach out to Crosswinds today to find out more about how to take advantage of this unique opportunity for you and your family.

History of Kyle, TX

In 1880, the town of Kyle was founded by nearby settlers from the communities of Blanco and Mountain City. A man by the name of Fergus Kyle and the family of David Moore donated 200 acres of land for a town site located where the International and Great Northern Railroad connected Austin to San Antonio. The first lots were sold some time in October, which is now why every October we have the Kyle Founders Day Parade!

About the Kyle Founders Day Parade

When: Saturday, October 14
Where: Downtown Kyle
What Time: 10:00 AM

Every year the parade has a theme, and this year the theme is “Bringing It Home To Kyle.” The Kyle Founders Day Parade will start at Gregg-Clarke Park and then head east on Center Street. Once they pass through downtown, they’ll end at the Mary Kyle Hartson City Square Park’s Gazebo. For a good view of the parade as it passes by, your best bet is to simple be on either side of Center Street between the start and end points. At the end of the parade, we will all gather around a birthday cake and sing “Happy Birthday” to our beloved little town.

While there are tons of fun things to do in Kyle, we hope that the Kyle Founders Day Parade is at the top of your list. Come enjoy the spirit of our town, and see why we love calling Kyle home. Two Wheel Brewing in Buda Now Open Near Crosswinds

Crosswinds Kyle, TX
(Image via twowheelbrewing.com)

Calling all beer lovers! We’re beyond excited to announce that a brewery has opened up near our master-planned community in Buda. While Crosswinds is in Kyle, TX, Two Wheel Brewing Company is just a quick 10-minute drive from our new homes near Austin! Here’s what you should know about this new craft beer company.

The Cold Brews

To kickstart this brewery’s entrance into the world of craft beer, Two Wheel Brewing currently serves four beers – Budaful Blonde Ale, Twin Creeks Pale Ale, Amber German-Style Altbier and Brakeman Bitter English-Style Pale Ale. But that’s not all! The brewery plans to release even more craft brews, so you can expect to see seasonal varieties!

The Men Behind Two Wheel

There are just three men bringing these delicious beers to Buda. The first is the head brewer and founder, Marc Woffenden, who started his beer crafting career 10 years ago thanks to getting a homebrew kit for Christmas. He then went on to study brewing science and engineering at American Brewers Guild Brewing School. Next up is Dennis Howell, who also went to the American Brewers Guild Brewing School and has years of experience crafting tasty brews in Upstate New York breweries. Finally, there’s Douglas Korte, who keeps track of the business and also gets to have the best job someone in a brewery could have – quality testing. That means he’s the lucky guy that gets to taste all the beer to make sure it’s as good as it’s supposed to be.

Plan a Trip to Two Wheel

Since they are still so new, Two Wheel Brewing Company is only currently open on Fridays from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM. However, they are expected to extend those hours to more days very soon! You can keep up with all that’s going on by following their Facebook page.
