What’s New in Kyle, TX? November Updates on Local Growth and Development

Kyle continues to grow at an exciting pace, and November is bringing fresh developments, new businesses, and smart investments that make life better for everyone. For residents of Crosswinds, this means even more to enjoy close to home and a community that keeps getting stronger as the city expands.

New Businesses and Retail Arrivals

Kyle’s retail scene is expanding with new additions that enhance convenience and shopping variety for local residents. One of the biggest projects is Kyle City Limits, a new shopping and dining destination along I-35 and Kyle Crossing. This development recently broke ground and is expected to bring major names like AutoZone and Spec’s Wines, Spirits & Finer Foods. Once complete, the space will offer between 25,000 and 35,000 square feet of retail and create more than 200 new jobs.

New restaurant and coffee shop openings are also on the rise, giving residents more places to eat, gather, and enjoy their weekends without leaving the city. These additions not only serve current residents but also make Kyle more appealing to future families looking for a vibrant hometown.

Infrastructure and City Improvements

Kyle is also investing heavily in infrastructure and community improvements. The CityPoint Kyle project is a mixed-use development featuring residential units, green spaces, walking trails, and a new roadway called Chevo Pastrano Senior Parkway. These updates aim to improve mobility and ease traffic while giving the community more access to natural spaces and recreation.

Smaller improvements are happening throughout town as well. Roadway enhancements, beautification efforts, and sidewalk additions are part of Kyle’s long-term plan to improve quality of life for everyone. For residents of Crosswinds, this means better access to the city’s core and enhanced curb appeal all around.

Planning for the Future

Kyle’s vision for the future continues to take shape through development planning and city council initiatives. New schools and city services are being proposed to meet the needs of a growing population. Planning meetings this month include proposals for residential zoning, future park expansions, and public-private partnerships that are designed to build a strong foundation for long-term success.

Crosswinds is located right in the heart of this progress, giving its residents easy access to the city’s newest offerings while maintaining a peaceful, thoughtfully planned neighborhood.

Kyle Local: Koy Chinese and Sushi

Looking for authentic Chinese cuisine and sushi? You can find that here in Kyle at Koy Chinese and Sushi (5695 Kyle Parkway, Ste. 800, Kyle, TX 78640). Owner Frank Lai opened Koy in Kyle when Hays County and the surrounding area were booming, in 2011.

The family has been in the restaurant business for more than 30 years. They founded the business on three things: exceptional service, being community-oriented, and delicious food.

According to Community Impact, at Koy’s beginning in 2011, there was a staff of about 10 people and as the community of Kyle saw massive population and economic growth, that growth was reflected in the success of local businesses like Koy.

All that success came to a screeching halt in 2020 when the pandemic hit. Koy had to drastically adjust its business model to keep the lights on and the sushi rolling. The restaurant suffered major setbacks, as did most businesses. Koy had to close its doors to dine-in, and the staff decreased by about half. The restaurant went from a successful, well-staffed restaurant to a small restaurant dependent on to-go orders and delivery services.

As Covid-19 precautions were gradually lifted and regular business resumed, Koy Chinese and Sushi bounced back as a local favorite for Chinese and sushi, with dine-in, to-go, and delivery options. Last October, Koy celebrated its 10th year of business.

Koy makes everything to order and fresh. Its sushi bar is overseen by a master sushi chef who prepares fresh sushi every day. You’ll find favorites such as the LA, spicy crab, California, and vegetable rolls. They also serve many favorites in Chinese cuisine such as General Tso’s chicken, beef and broccoli, cashew chicken, egg drop soup, and more.

Many customers rave about their dishes and say it’s authentic Chinese cuisine. Visit the Koy Chinese and Sushi Facebook page for some mouthwatering photos of their dishes. They also post menu updates, specials, and more, so give it a Like to stay up-to-date.
