Where: Mary Kyle Hartson City Square Park

What time: 1PM

One of the best local Halloween events for us at Crosswinds, the Center Street Trick-or-Treat is a great event for the whole family! Join your neighbors at Mary Kyle Hartson City Square Park Saturday, October 27, at 1PM. Local businesses and organizations will be on location with tents and tables to provide a fun and safe environment for trick-or-treating. Costume contest judging starts at 3:00PM, while the judging for the pumpkin carving contest starts at 3:30PM.

Dia De Los Muertos 5K Run/Walk & Kids Fun Run

Where: Hernandez Elementary School

What time: 7AM

Get out with the family to get some exercise in San Marcos at the annual Dia De Los Muertos 5K Run/Walk & Kids Fun Run at Hernandez Elementary School. There will be face painting for those arriving early, door prizes and chances to win items throughout the event. Packet pickup starts at 7AM with the run starting at 8:00AM. Late registration is still open so take this chance to enjoy some outdoor fun and exercise.

Where: Downtown Buda

What time: 4:30PM-7:30PM

The 16th Annual Boo-Da Halloween takes place this year on October 27th and has just about everything you could want at a Halloween bash. Starting at 4:30PM in downtown Buda, families can compete in several costume and pumpkin decorating contests and explore a brand new haunted maze.

What time: 9:30PM

Want to take the family out after trick-or-treating on Halloween? One of our other top fun Halloween events near Kyle, The Texas Fireworks Dia de los Muertos celebration, is the answer. Watch from Kreig Baseball Field as the Austin skyline is painted with the sights and sounds only fireworks can bring. This year they have fair booths and a number of great activities for kids. The show starts at 9:30PM, so don’t be late!

There is certainly no shortage of dog-friendly places near Kyle that the entire family can enjoy. Located in our Crosswinds master-planned community, there are hike and bike trails everywhere for adventurous dog owners looking to take their companion on a serene walk through nature. If your dog is feeling a bit more social, there are usually more than a few pups at the Plum Creek Dog Park that will greet you with wagging tails and playful attitudes.

San Marcos

While there are plenty of dog-friendly things to do in Kyle, San Marcos can also serve as a safe-haven for your four-legged best friend. The San Marcos Dog Park at Memorial Park is a well-maintained park just south of Kyle that your pup is guaranteed to love. Let go of the leash and let your dog play until to his heart’ is content.

Buda

One of our favorite things to do near Kyle is visit the incredibly pup-friendly bar/coffee shop Nate’s in Buda. Even their logo is an adorable Dachshund silhouette. At Nate’s you can enjoy live music, craft beer and the finest cocktails Buda has to offer. You can experience all of this and more with the comfort of knowing your dog is having a great time as well.

Austin

Austin is home to more than a few dog-friendly locations that are sure to get your pup’s tail wagging. Though there are dog-specific parks in Austin, we recommend taking your companion to Zilker Botanical Garden. Just don’t forget your leash! After working up an appetite walking, there is no better spot to rest and grab a bite to eat than Home Slice. With dog-friendly patio seating, pet water bowls and the best pizza in Texas, Home Slice is a favorite spot for dog owners in and around Kyle.

There is no doubt that Kyle and the cities surrounding it are extremely dog friendly. Finding something to do with your four-legged friends has never been easier. Hops & Grain Brewery To Begin Brewing Near Crosswinds

When it comes to things to do near Kyle, TX, most people probably wouldn’t think about touring a craft beer brewery and taproom. But that’s all about to change because just 20 minutes from our master-planned community, Austin-based Hops & Grain Brewery is opening their second brewery and taproom in San Marcos! Here’s a little more information about this brewery and their great beer.

About Hops & Grain Brewery

Being started in Austin, TX, it should come as no surprise that Hops & Grain Brewery puts an emphasis on community and using environmentally friendly and sustainable brewing methods. They partner with non-profits and local business and often provide their beer for community events. They also give 1% of their annual revenue to local environmental non-profits to help them in their efforts.

Year ‘Round and Seasonal Brews

Now, for what everyone really wants – beer! Hops & Grain Brewery has 7 beers that they brew all year long – River Beer Lager, 78702 Kolsch, Greenhouse IPA, The One They Call Zoe Pale Lager, A Pale Mosaic American Style IPA, Porter Culture Baltic Style Porter and the Dispensary Series Dry Hopped, which are 6 of their beers that they put an extra helping or two of hops into. As for the seasonal brews at the Hops & Grain Brewery, there are 6 – New Zealand IPA, Imperial Oatmeal Stout, Maibock, Vienna Lager, Helles Lager and Texas Honey IPA.

Now in San Marcos, TX

While Austin isn’t all that far from our master-planned community, San Marcos is certainly closer. Soon, the list of fun things to do near Kyle, TX will also have enjoying a cold, local, craft beer in the Hops & Grain Brewery in San Marcos, which is set to start brewing in September with the taproom set to open in October. To mark their momentous expansion, Hops & Grain Brewery will introduce their new Haze County Imperial IPA!
