3 St. Patrick’s Day Recipes That Will Bring You Luck

It’s that time of year again where everything starts to feel a bit more Irish. Get in the spirit by cooking some of our favorite traditional St. Patrick’s Day recipes. We may specialize in setting you up with beautiful homes near Austin, but we also like to think we are experts in food here at Crosswinds. Here are our three favorite St. Patrick’s Day recipes.

Slow Cooker Corned Beef and Cabbage

St. Patrick's Day Recipes That Will Bring You Luck

(Image via allrecipes.com)

No St. Patrick’s Day is complete without corned beef and cabbage. This traditional Irish delicacy is not only delightfully delicious, it is also one of the easiest recipes we have ever prepared. Simply throw beef, vegetables, water and beer into a crockpot and forget about it for 8 hours. You’ll be left with the juiciest meat that you might ever taste. Be sure to check out the recipe before any food prep is done.

Irish Shepard’s Pie

St. Patrick's Day Recipes That Will Bring You Luck

(Image via allrecipes.com)

While this recipe requires a bit more attention than the last, the time you’ll put into this dish will be worth the wait. Shepard’s Pie is one of the classic St. Patrick’s Day recipes and we can’t get enough of this one. The combination of lamb, vegetables and a fluffy crust will leave you wishing everyday was St. Patrick’s Day. With prep time averaged out at 25 minutes, this recipe is certainly worth your time.

Beef and Guinness Stew

St. Patrick's Day Recipes That Will Bring You Luck

(Image via allrecipes.com)

The addition of beer to any recipe is not only incredibly Irish, but it is also a great way to spruce up your favorite dish. Of course this recipe calls for the most abundant Irish beer in America. Guinness is a dark beer that is sure to thicken up this traditional Irish stew into gravy that sits perfectly on a bed of mashed potatoes. While beer and beef are the essence of this stew, the addition of bacon is what really turns this dish up a notch. Serve this at a St. Patrick’s Day party to impress all of your friends and family.

No matter what your plans are for this Irish holiday, these St. Patrick’s Day recipes are sure to add a bit of flavor to any celebration. Stop in at Longhorn Daiquiris near Crosswinds for a drink to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day the traditional way. Family Fun at the Kyle Founders Day Parade

Crosswinds in Kyle, TX just loves being a part of such a wonderful town. In just a couple of weeks, we’ll be celebrating the founding of our great town with the Kyle Founders Day Parade. Here’s a little more info about this fun event and a brief history of our beloved Kyle, Texas.

Kyle Founders Day Parade
(Image via cityofkyle.com)

History of Kyle, TX

In 1880, the town of Kyle was founded by nearby settlers from the communities of Blanco and Mountain City. A man by the name of Fergus Kyle and the family of David Moore donated 200 acres of land for a town site located where the International and Great Northern Railroad connected Austin to San Antonio. The first lots were sold some time in October, which is now why every October we have the Kyle Founders Day Parade!

About the Kyle Founders Day Parade

When: Saturday, October 14
Where: Downtown Kyle
What Time: 10:00 AM

Every year the parade has a theme, and this year the theme is “Bringing It Home To Kyle.” The Kyle Founders Day Parade will start at Gregg-Clarke Park and then head east on Center Street. Once they pass through downtown, they’ll end at the Mary Kyle Hartson City Square Park’s Gazebo. For a good view of the parade as it passes by, your best bet is to simple be on either side of Center Street between the start and end points. At the end of the parade, we will all gather around a birthday cake and sing “Happy Birthday” to our beloved little town.

While there are tons of fun things to do in Kyle, we hope that the Kyle Founders Day Parade is at the top of your list. Come enjoy the spirit of our town, and see why we love calling Kyle home. If you’d like to call this town home too, contact Crosswinds in Kyle, TX to learn about some of the most beautiful new homes near Austin.

Crosswinds is an Official Sponsor of the 2017 Buda Wiener Dog Race

Crosswinds Kyle TX

Every year Buda, Texas, the unlikely Wiener Dog Capital of the Lone Star State, puts on their annual County Fair and Wiener Dog Races! This will be their 20th year and our master-planned community is a sponsor this year! Here are some of the things you can expect from this family fun event.

20th Annual Buda Wiener Dog Races

This great event is basically a weekend-long overload of adorable dogs, family fun, live music and more!

When: Saturday, April 29 – Sunday, April 30
Where: Buda City Park
What Time: Saturday – 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM & Sunday – 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

As for the actual races, you can register your wiener dog or mixed breed dachshund the day of the race or register online. The Central Texas Dachshund Rescue is hosting the event and Crosswinds in Kyle, TX is excited about being a sponsor this year.

Best Dressed Dog Contest

Just because your dog doesn’t have any dachshund in them, that doesn’t mean you can’t bring them along for all the fun! They don’t have to race, because they can still participate in the best-dressed dog contest as well as the opening pet parade!

If you want to win the best-dressed dog contest, we’d recommend making sure your pooch is all decked out from nose to tail. Throw on a little hat, maybe even some stylish shoes, and you’ll give the other dogs a run for their bones.

Food, Food and More Tasty Food

Finally, no great Texas festival would be complete without food! Not only will there be local vendors selling some tasty morsels, there will also be a bake-off, barbecue cook-off and chili cook-off. Don’t miss out on your chance to dig into some of the most delicious eats in the Hill Country.
