History of Kyle, TX

In 1880, the town of Kyle was founded by nearby settlers from the communities of Blanco and Mountain City. A man by the name of Fergus Kyle and the family of David Moore donated 200 acres of land for a town site located where the International and Great Northern Railroad connected Austin to San Antonio. The first lots were sold some time in October, which is now why every October we have the Kyle Founders Day Parade!

About the Kyle Founders Day Parade

When: Saturday, October 14
Where: Downtown Kyle
What Time: 10:00 AM

Every year the parade has a theme, and this year the theme is “Bringing It Home To Kyle.” The Kyle Founders Day Parade will start at Gregg-Clarke Park and then head east on Center Street. Once they pass through downtown, they’ll end at the Mary Kyle Hartson City Square Park’s Gazebo. For a good view of the parade as it passes by, your best bet is to simple be on either side of Center Street between the start and end points. At the end of the parade, we will all gather around a birthday cake and sing “Happy Birthday” to our beloved little town.

While there are tons of fun things to do in Kyle, we hope that the Kyle Founders Day Parade is at the top of your list. Come enjoy the spirit of our town, and see why we love calling Kyle home.
